Abstract Ultrafast nanocalorimetry, in combination with high-speed IR thermography, is used to measure the interfacial thermal conductance (ITC) of contact metal microdroplets a solid during fast melting (including laser heating). thermography and membrane nanocalorimetry were temperature difference at membrane/sample interface crystallization aluminium alloy (AA7075) (20 μ m diameter) over wide range heating cooling rates (up 10 5 K s −1 ). This first time ITC has been measured such high this new method. We found that reaches about 80 solidification heating. result significant for understanding various industrial laser-assisted processes. It established AA7075 gradually increases by an order magnitude from solidus liquidus alloy. unusual behavior can be important optimizing additive manufacturing
